(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions are located at the end of this message) Trailworkers It has been a great season so far for trail work here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I have been able to hit 5 days in the Soquel Demonstration State Forest, and three more in Stevens Creek County Park. In both places, we have had the good fortune of weaving between rainy days to maintain some of our favorite narrow, rustic trails without drowning any volunteers. The drainage improvements we have made on Table Mountain allowed for a dry hike yesterday after we got a severe dumping of rain on Sunday. In the Demo, drainage is only half of what we have been up to. The Braille Trail has a new entrance: gone is the first eighth mile of stutter bumps, now replaced with a new meander through the Doug Firs. The wall of a climb at the bottom of the Ridge Trail has also been replaced by a mild grade serpentine trail amongst the Madrones and Tannoaks. Our trail work reports have been posted at Trailworkers.com, along with photos of what we have done. Getting to the part where you can help, our next work day is this Sunday, February 27in the Demo from 9:00 to 1:00. Click on over to Volunteer and sign up to lend a hand. We are about half way through the trail work season, and you wouldn't want to have not done your share when we come to year end. As an extra enticement, Specialized Bicycles, AnotherBike Shop, Bonny Dune Vineyard, The Crows Nest, and Apple have all contributed to the prizes that will be given to those that volunteered the most days this year. Current standings are also posted at Trailworkers.com. Charles
