Trailworkers Past and Future

We had two great days of trail work last weekend in the hills above our homes.

On May 7, ROMP volunteers worked on the Crossover Trail in El Corte de Madera Open Space Preserve. This is a mostly new trail that will open as soon as we get a break in our late Winter weather. Photos and the whole story can be found here

http://home.comcast.net/~imahorse/crossover1.txt

On Mother's Day, May 8, The Stewards of Soquel Forest teamed up with Own The Trail to massage the tread and turns on the Ridge Trail in the Soquel Demonstration State Forest. More than you want to know can be found here

The opportunities for you to come out and do your part are drying up, as they say in the field. Nigel Ray leads the last workday of Soquel's season this Sunday, May 22. You can sign up as a volunteer at

http://www.trailworkers.com/volunteer.cfm

and you can play on the trails all year long.

ROMP will also be hosting two more volunteer trail work days in El Corte de Madera on two Saturdays, June 18 and July 16. These days will be filled by reservation only, and to save your spot, you need only ask Paul McKowan at volunteer@openspace.org

See you out there.
