(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions are located at the end of this message) Riders Tom and I got out for a long ride in the Demo yesterday, completing a triple loop including riding down Corral, up Sulphur, down Ridge and Saw Pit, up Tractor, and down Braille. OK, so maybe that's only 2 1/2 loops, but it has left me feeling a bit lethargic and heavy, even after having slept in. The Demo wasn't very muddy, but a bit wetter than I figured it would be, and I would bet that the rest of this week is going to offer the finest traction in all of the Santa Cruz Mountains. That brings me to my next point, Peter's Saturday ride at El Corte de Madera OSP. Meet at Passion at 9:15 to carpool or at Skeggs Point Parking Lot at 10:00 am (plan to be ready to ride by 10:15). We will see what trails are open (there are a few seasonal closures) and make a good loop so we get a 2 to 3 hour ride in. Expect some good technical trails and a fair amount of climbing. Bring appropriate food and water, and necessary equipment (helmets are required). Directions: Skeggs Point is a CalTrans parking lot above the town of Woodside on Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35) between Highway 92 and Woodside Road (Highway 84). - If you live north of the shop, go up Highway 92 to Skyline Blvd. Make a left onto Southbound Skyline and go for about 9 miles. Skeggs point is the vista point on the left hand side of the road - you'll see a rock retaining wall there. You'll also see a no left turn sign, which you should abide by. Drive about a quarter mile further (to where the road straightens out) to the pull outs, and make a U-turn and return to the parking lot. - If you live south of the shop, Take Highway 84 (Woodside Road) west to the "Skylonda" intersection with Skyline Blvd (hwy 35). Turn right onto Skyline Blvd, and take it north for about 4 miles. The "Skegg's Point" parking lot is on the right and is labeled with signs saying "Vista Point". Weather reports says we should be fine, but should they be wrong - rain on day of ride or heavy rain the day before will cancel. Need info, contact me at peter@passiontrailbikes.com Also, we are planning on rerunning yesterdays triple (or so) loop on President's Day, Monday February 19. We will meet in the upper parking lot on Highland at the Soquel Demonstration State Forest at 8:30, and ride all day if you like. We also plan on splitting the group if the desire is there for a shorter ride option or options. Let me know if you are planning on attending, and I will try to have the appropriate amount of pre and post ride refreshments to share. More info can be found at Charles@PassionTrailBikes.com Oh, and warm, dry clothes. Bring plenty, it gets cold in the lower areas near the forest. If you don't have enough, stop by Passion some time soon. We have received about half of our Spring Fox clothing, so a bunch of last year's Sugoi and Fox clothing just got moved over to the 25% off rack. Come load up, I need the space :) Charles
