(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions are located at the end of this message) Two items this week, one the Wednesday Usual ride continues to do whatever it is that it does. Evolve? Yeah, that's it. Second, we are making plans for a Passion trip to Downieville in July. Want to join us? The Usual Becomes Unusual This weeks ride will be Un-Usual: we will be encouraging those who have 'Cross bikes to come out & get crossed up @ the Dog. Charles, Peter & Jay, at least, will be rolling on their skinny knobbies up to & thru Water Dog. If you have one, wipe the dust off it & join the fun. As usual, we will be leaving in multiple waves from Passion Trail Bikes, likely two waves of Usual riders & one wave of Slow riders. The routes will all be different, to disperse our use & impact on the trails & other users. Courtesy & good manners will be encouraged. The nominal start time this week will be 7:00PM, and for the next 7-8 weeks as well. The Slow ride will leave at 7:00PM sharp, there will be an early bird wave of Usual riders leaving as soon as we have a quorum. If you can be ready to ride well before 7, do so, and you'll be first in line for the refreshments post ride in our lounge. Those Usual riders who show up near 7PM will go off the the second wave, about 10-15 minutes after the Slow ride. All will regroup after their adventures in the lounge for the Usual.......... Downieville Alert This is your heads up that the Annual, if not semi-annual, Downieville gathering & fun fest is now looming in the near future, July 21-22-23, Sat thru Monday. This time shifted 3 day weekend makes the return trip much easier, not having to deal with Sierra Sunday commute traffic, to say nothing of dovetailing with our Passion Trail Bike shop schedule. We'll congregate in Downieville in time for a noon shuttle with Yuba Expeditions; allow about 4 hours for the commute from the Bay Area, more if you drive slow or like to stop more than once. Don't be late, as the shuttles won't wait. Saturday will be a little shorter ride and Sunday will be EPIC, route yet to be determined. Monday will also be big fun, but will get us back to D-Ville in time to be home before dark. Shuttles Sunday & Monday will be at 9AM, so there will be plenty of time post ride for migrating to one of the swimming holes & consuming adult beverages, lying about how you cleaned all of the 2nd Divide, etc. As we'll be riding early in the season, trail conditions should be stellar, so plan on having more fun than you can stand. Here's the deal: We've reserved space for about 15 people, we've got 5 rooms, all they had left. Expect to share a room and likely a bed, queen size or larger. There will be a very limited number of double and single beds as well as futons for those who aren't comfortable sharing, but they will be on a first come, first served basis. A few kitchenettes are available, too. If we fill all the rooms we've reserved, feel free to find your own room, camp or RV it; we'll still get you on our shuttle & you will ride with the crew. Just be sure to let us know if you'll be staying elsewhere, so we can reserve shuttle space for you. The shuttle limit is more like 25 riders, but that is a hard limit; can't stretch it, sorry. Costs will be from about $40/nite up to about $65/nite depending on your request and what's available when you sign up. Let us know about bed needs, kitchenette or whatever you want. For now what we're looking for is for you to tell us if you're serious about joining the fun. We'll reserve space for you and keep a wait list in the event we're full and someone cancels. Closer to the date, we'll ask for a$50 deposit; that will make it real. We realize plans change, sometimes at the last minute, and we expect that some who reserve early, will have to cancel. That's why we keep the wait list and don't ask for money until shortly before the date. If you cancel after you pay the deposit, we'll negotiate and return your money, if possible. So, mark you calendars, get your hall passes signed by your keepers and let us know if you're coming. There will likely be another similar weekend in late Sept or early Oct, stay tuned. Charles
