Downieville Sept 15-17: Space still available for you AND your SO. The Weekly Wednesday Wrides continue. ROMP Picnic Sept 22.
Downieville in September space still available
The upcoming Passion Trail Bikes Downieville Trip September 15-16-17, Sat through Monday. This trip will feature some fine hospitality courtesy of the FBG, who will be heading up with a stocked pantry for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You ain't lived until you've had Patty's French Toast. No worries about the lack of restaurant choices, either; we will have some fine food prepared on the Riverside grills, and noshing by the Downie River. This weekend we are encouraging riders to bring riding or non-riding partners. There will be plenty of lounging around, a hike, some hanging out by the river, and other fun and relaxing activities. Bike skills not required to enjoy this trip! We've booked rooms at the Riverside Inn again & made shuttle reservations with Yuba. All you need to do is put down a $50 deposit to hold a spot. We will take cash, check, credit card or paypal to secure your place on the fun wagon. Contact Patty with questions. 650-620-9798 or patty@passiontrailbikes.com Total costs will vary, but will be around $60 per night for the room & $20 per day for the shuttle, and meal costs split fairly. Deposits are due here ASAP, as we have to give back any unused space, and then we can't guarantee your room.... who wants that? Check out our latest blog entry for some pics and videos from our last trip. http://www.passiontrailbikes.com/articles/2007/07/24/downieville
The Weekly Wednesday Wrides continue.
Tomorrow on 8/22, we are encouraging you to bring a bike with shifters and derailers and cassettes with many many teeth! Yes, the geared bike will Reign supreme. Riders will be encouraged to workout those thumbs and fingers moving levers to find the perfect combination of teeth for pleasurable pedaling! Ride line up looks like this: 6:00: The Fat Bottomed Girl and her ample sized 34 tooth Granny Gear will pedal gently up towards the lake where the dog shall be dunked. The easy way (possibly including pavement) around to the dirt jumps will follow, with some low-pressure skills play and coaching on the steeps on the way down. Jumping will be limited to watching. 6:15: The Usual Big Ring Mash up Ralston will start. Boys who misbehave while passing the FBG ride might be spanked (again), so bring your best trail etiquette. There is a high probability of sampling most of the trails before dark. 6:30: The Slow Ride will launch with a solid middle-ring attitude. This Wednesday will feature an opportunity to call "Do-Over!" on some of the Technical Trail Features up at Waterdog. You know that root that always gets you off your pedals and on your feet? Tomorrow you can try to do it over and nail it! Three try limit to keep the ride moving. One coach at a time limit also enforced, although there is no limit on the "Atta-Boy"s and "Atta-Girl"s when you clean your nemesis TTF. Do-overs will shorten the overall mileage of the ride, but not the ride time. If you are impatient you are also welcome to mutiny and keep rolling out on your own. As always a large turn out may mean splitting the rides up a bit to reduce the potential for annoying other trail users. Post ride libations this week include fresh kegs and some very fine ice cold root beer. There will also be vanilla ice cream to float your smile after a great time out on the trails. If you haven't yet tried a Wednesday Wride, why not this week? ROMP Picnic is 9/22
This year the Responsible Organized Mountain Pedalers (ROMP) Summer Picnic returns to Twin Pines Park in Belmont on Saturday 9/22. Passion Trail Bikes is sponsoring the Beer and Passionista Chef Patrick Clark will be tending the grill. The Picnic features rides in the morning at Waterdog, followed by a really fun, casual, and tasty picnic and party at Twin Pines Park (Intersection of Ralston and South St.). Save the date as this is one of the best social events of the year, where you can meet the folks who work so hard to keep your trails open to bikes and fun to ride. Rumor has it that there will be pixie bike sumo, a killer raffle, death defying stunts and lots of laughs! Trivia for the day: Charles is one of ROMP's board members, often doing duty as the secretary at their monthly meeting.
