This week's email is special. It's that time of year, ya know. Time to think about your friends, your family, and ways to save some money. This week we feature stuff that's cool or important, but you can't get it shopping on the internet. In fact some of this stuff you can't get anywhere else. If you read all the way through, you'll also find some news on ways you can protect and gain access to great places to ride.
Today's Topics: 10% off Passion gift certificates (yes, really) Save 20% on our attentive, accurate, awesome custom fitting salon Save 20% on our suspension spa services Stocking stuff for your sweetie Solstice: Singletrack, Scotch Ale, and Steak Waterdog Trailwork on Sunday Dec 2 La Honda Shut-out Protest Dec 4th, Sky Londa ROMP Holiday Party & IMBA TCC visit this weekend
10% off Passion gift certificates (yes, really) From now until December 9th, we are offering Passion Trail Bikes Gift Certificates (in any amount) for 90% of face value. For example, if you pay $90, you get a $100 gift certificate. You can buy gift certificates for yourself, your friends, or your family and save on any future purchase, including bikes, forks, clothing, special orders and sales items, basically anything we ring up at the register (except, please, the 20% off stuff below, which is already a great deal). So this is like a store-wide sale for our loyal customers who actually read this email.
Save 20% on our attentive, accurate, awesome custom fitting salon services We think you deserve a comfortable bike that feels like a well balanced extension of your own body. Does riding make those critical contact points on your body sore or numb? Hands? Feet? Nether region? Do your neck, back or knees ache after a long climb? Did you get your bike professionally fit to your body and your riding style when you got it? Maybe it's time to bring your bike in and have a critical eye evaluate your position on it, and make those adjustments needed to really make you at home on your bike. Save 20% on the fitting service, plus get 20% off any saddle, stem, handlebar, seatpost or other fitting related components purchased at the time of your fitting. Discount applies to fittings appointments scheduled by December 9th, and performed by January 15th.
Save 20% on our suspension spa services Aside from the geometry of your body's position, there's also the issue of how the suspension is set up and performing. We do custom tuning and service on all suspension forks and shocks and pivot systems. Get your fork tuned for your body weight and riding style, so when you hit bumps or drops on the trail, your fork moves the way you want. Likewise, your rear shock is very important in how your bike handles. You want movement in your suspension in response to bumps, not pedaling forces, and you don't want it to eject you over the bars on the backside of a log rollover. If your suspension isn't silent, plush and performing perfectly, bring your bike in for our suspension spa and save 20% on labor as well as parts like oil, seals, bearings, and bushings. Discount applies to suspension spa appointments scheduled by December 9th, and performed by January 15th.
Stocking stuff for your sweetie We have a great selection of stocking stuffers for the cyclist on your list. We can help you select fun gifts to fit your budget. Choices of stocking sized items include inner tubes, CLIF blocks, Tecnu poison oak lotions, Sock Guy sox, Chris King headsets, bike chain bottle openers from Resource Revival, multi-tools, chain lubes, Specialized optics, Salsa skewers, Park patches, SRAM quick links, Kinetic Koffee, trail maps, and more. Come in and tell us a bit about your sweetie and we will help you choose the perfect assortment of goodies.
Solstice: Singletrack, Scotch Ale, and Steak Special solstice ride and rehydration therapy planned for Friday, Dec 21. Oh Yawn, another party in December. Yes, true, true. But we are going riding first, and you can come to our party with mud under your eye. What could be a better antidote to the stress of the season than hanging out at Passion eating and drinking after a great ride? So save the date. We will also have the register open until the last rider goes home, so you can take advantage of our easy solstice hours to get some shopping done.
La Honda Shut-out Protest Dec 4th, Sky Londa All is not well with trail access for cyclists in San Mateo County. The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is hosting an "open house" format meeting to present the draft master plan for the Nine Square Miles of La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve. The plan isn't available on the web or in print yet, but we are told it includes ZERO access for bikes until some vague time in the future when they might allow bikes on the Bay Area Ridge Trail, but none of the other trails in the preserve. This isn't good news. Some folks on MTBR have come up with the idea of attending the open house wearing their helmets as a sign of protest. Read up on this very imporant issue on MTBR or the Passion Trail Bikes website.
ROMP Holiday Party & IMBA TCC visit this weekend ROMP is still accepting reservations for seats at their annual holiday dinner with special guest speaker Joe Breeze, this Friday December 1. On Saturday ROMP is having a ride at Skeggs in the morning and a really important meeting at Alice's in the afternoon with free food and beer, and some great info on how you can help get trails opened to bikes. Details on the dinner party are on our website, and details on the IMBA Trail Care Crew visit and ride are on the ROMP website.
Cheers, and enjoy the great weather we've been getting lately!
