Trailwork on Sunday, January at the shop

Trailwork
Tomorrow Sunday 1/6/08, Patty is leading a small trailwork project in Waterdog. Meet at 9am at the end of Carlmont. Wear boots, bring a change of clothes. We will get muddy, and maybe rained on. Beverages and lunch at the Passion Lounge afterwards (probably around 1pm). Next week we will be out at Soquel Forest on Saturday 1/12. Most likely, we will be pulling broken branches and sawing out downed trees. Also, opening up drainage so the trails don't erode. You can always access our latest trailwork calendar here:

Sale bin
This month we are going through that transition where we are looking at what we want to have in the store for the spring, and what we would like to move out. We have set up a sale table and a couple of racks of clothing with some really great deals, between 25% and 50% off on various items, including Bell Variant helmets, women's stormshield jackets, and an assortment of mens and womens shorts and jerseys. Why not stop in after work, grab a warm or cold bevo from the lounge and paw through the discounts to see what fits your fancy and get a great deal?

Training
Winter is also the time when staff goes out and gets some continuing education. John just got back from a couple days at the Specialized University, and he will be heading out with Berry to Boulder for more training at Maverick. We also have slots scheduled at SRAM Technical, and some other manufacturers will get thrown in before springtime hits for sure. Feel free to pepper the crew with 20 technical questions about the stuff we sell and service. If they can't give you a straight answer to your most burning inquiry, it will be good incentive for some detailed research.

Spring Demo Days Save the Date Headsup:
March 15 & 16. We will have a big pile of bikes from Specialized, Maverick, Giant, Santa Cruz, Ibis, and more. You'll be able to reserve a time and the right sized bike, and hit the trails for a true test ride. Save the Date!

Sea Otter base-building tuneup appointments
Every year, people just like you decide to race the Sea Otter, but forget to plan ahead and get their bike tuned up or repaired before the big weekend. They may have a plan for training and building up a good base of fitness over winter, but they forget about that other component: their bike. Then they realize, OMG, my fork is leaking air, or wow, I need a whole new drivetrain, and guess what, the service department is backed up with appointments until June. This year, plan ahead and include your bike in your pre-race base-building development. Have us check over your bike sometime in Jan or Feb. We will give you an eval of your bike's race-worthiness in time for you to make changes before the Otter.
