Giving thanks at Table to Santa Clara County Parks

(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions are
located at the end of this message)

High on my list of things to be thankful for is open space. This year I have spent a disturbingly small amount of time outdoors compared to amount of time I was at work or sleeping in, but just knowing it is there, that I can get out in it at almost anytime, adds to my soul. My New Years resolutions will surely involve getting more Fir needes in my hair and more dirt in the bottom of my wash machine than last year.

While we still have a month or so left, and if you haven't been out as much as you would have liked, I would like to add to your laundry load as well. Santa Clara County Parks is hosting two volunteer workdays on the Table Mountain Trail in Stevens Canyon County Park back to back on December 4th and 5th. Come join F.O.R.E.S.T for the kickoff of our second season as the adoptees of this trail. We will be looking at and maintaining features we built last year, as well as working on lower parts of the trail we didn't quite get to last year.

We are meeting at 8:30 at the top of Charcoal Road, where it intersects with Skyline/Highway 35, a mile or two north of Saratoga Gap. F.O.R.E.S.T will provide coffee and snacks, the County will provide tools and water, and you should bring long sleeves and pants and water you can carry on the trail. I will bring gloves to loan if you have none. We will be working from 9:00 til 12:00, then some of us will be going for a hike to look at the lower sections of Stevens Canyon.

This trail, also known as the Alternate Trail, is one of the County's most beautiful and rustic trails, but has been suffering from a lack of maintenance in the last several years. Lets show our thanks to Santa Clara County Parks by helping them take care of this valuable resource. Please RSVP by responding to this email so I know to bring enough tools and snacks for everybody. If you can't make this day, click on over to http://www.Trailworkers.com and choose another. We will be in the Soquel Demonstration State Forest on Friday, and December 12, and I have a dozen other dates early next year. See you out there!
