Trailworkers! Soquel Forest & Waterdog projects this weekend

(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions are
located at the end of this message)

Dear friends and volunteers of Soquel Forest and Waterdog Park,

I want to let you know that to ease confusion on my end, I have combined email lists obtained from Charles, Berry, and Trailworkers.com into a single trailwork volunteer list. I hope you don't mind me using this format to communicate with you, but my email program chokes if I try to send to more than about 20 email addresses at once. This list allows you to unsubscribe or change your email address automatically if you don't want to get these messages any more (see below).

This weekend we have two great projects planned.

On Saturday 2/9, we will be working in Soquel Forest. Scott Robinson from the Stewards of Soquel Forest writes:

Hello all,
It's a great time to dig in the forest. GOOD news! After a dry year, we have finally gotten some much needed rain. The ground is nice and loose, and ready for digging, but the recent storms have also blown down a bunch of trees and smaller branches throughout the forest. The GREAT news. The trails are in really good shape, they just need a bit of maintenance and polish to keep them that way. It's likely we will be working on Braille or Tractor trail.

If you are interested in helping out in the Demo Forest this weekend,
working on some of the best trails in the Bay Area, please sign up at trailworkers.com.

Please note: Highland Way is CLOSED. Instead of staging at the usual entrance to the forest at the top of Hihn's Mill Fireroad, we will be entering from the CDF administrative gate off Soquel-San Jose Road. Please sign up to get directions to the CDF office where we will be meeting and ready to roll at 9am in a convoy into the forest.

You need to bring a portable lunch, water, long pants, long sleeves, gloves (if you have some) and a desire to help keep the forest great. We will provide coffee, snacks, tools, direction, post-work rehydration, and a kick_ss trail network. We will work until about 1:30, then return to our cars and caravan back out.

Whatever you love about the Soquel Demo Forest, nows you chance to
show the love. I like the logrides, so I work hard to make sure that
they are safe and fun for everyone. Others love the berms, or the
trails that snake through the big redwoods. Whatever you love, make
sure you vote to keep it. The only votes we are accepting are based on
sweat equity, and I guarantee that your vote will make a difference :)

Thanks! Scott Robinson

On Sunday 2/10, we will be working in Waterdog Park in Belmont. Trailworkers.com has graciously allowed us space on their website to post and recruit for projects in Waterdog Park, so we are pretty pleased to join forces with them and provide a new venue for getting dirty.

We will be meeting at the end of Carlmont Drive at 9am, same sort of scene as above without the caravan. We will most likely be working on the Rambler trail. Should be a great day in the park! We will work until 1:30, then head over to the bike shop for grill mistress Patty to cook up something delicious, and serve something frothy in icy mugs. Post trailwork bike ride is also a possibility.

Again, please sign up using the link on the http://www.trailworkers.com website. Much appreciated!

Any questions? email patty@passiontrailbikes.com for the 411.

Happy Trails!
